The race starts and finishes at the Oak Park River Forest High School, 201 N. Scoville, Oak Park.

Both 5K races and the Youth Mile are chip-timed using D-chip timing technology.

The first 1000 people to register for the 5K races will receive a gender-specific technical race t-shirt! All other event participants will receive a 50/50 cotton/polyester t-shirt.

Post-Race Refreshments and Massages

Celebrate your achievement with Post-Race refreshments in the Oak Park River Forest High School south cafeteria. Refreshments will be provided!

Course Rules

Jogging strollers, walking strollers, and pets are not permitted in the 5K runs or the Youth Mile. However, they are more than welcome in the Eastlake Chiropractic and Healthcare 5K Fitness Walk.

CARA Green Certified Race

This race has applied for the Chicago Area Runners Association designation as a CARA Certified Green Race. This race has agreed to adhere to and uphold CARA’s Best Practices Guidelines. These Guidelines embody the highest standards for quality, safety and comfort for participants in a road race.
This race has also agreed to adhere to a set number of Green Practices that have been approved by CARA. The successful completion of these practices, recognize the achievement of an eco-friendly race.

Women's 5K Race

Race directly against your peers! The Women's 5K race begins at 9:00 AM. All finishers of the Women's 5K race will receive a flower at the finish line.

Eastlake Chiropractic & Healthcare Center 5K Fitness Walk Course Rules

Jogging strollers, walking strollers, and pets are more than welcome in the Eastlake Chiropractic and Healthcare 5K Fitness Walk. Note: they are not permitted in the 5K runs or the Youth Mile run.

Awards

The walk is noncompetitive and not timed. All walkers receive a finisher ribbon.

Youth Mile

The Race That's Good For Life kicks off with the Youth Mile at 8:45 AM. This event is for kids ages 5 to 12 and starts at the Oak Park River Forest High School, continues east on Ontario, north on Taylor, west on Erie with a final turn south to the finish on Scoville.

Participants will be chip timed. Overall female and male Youth Mile winners will receive handmade plaques.

Medals will be awarded to top 3 in each Youth Mile age group. Additionally, the first place age group winners of the Youth Mile will also receive a Competitive Foot gift certificates.

Ribbons will be awarded to all Youth Mile finishers!

Junior Dash (registration now closed)

Get the whole family involved! The Junior Dash is a race for kids 5 and under starting at 10:30 AM on Sunday, April 6, 2014.

New and improved untimed event includes separate races and distances for various ages and a special award for all participants.

The race has three distances:
200 meters for ages 5 and older
100 meters for ages 4
20 meters for ages 3 and under

Parents are allowed to run with their children.

Awards

Handmade plaques to will be awarded to:

  • Top 3 female and male 5K run winners overall
  • Top 3 finishers in each 5K race age group
  • Top 3 finishers in each 5K Clydesdale/Athena weight group (open & masters divisions)
  • Top 3 Mother/Daughter and Father/Son teams
  • Overall female and male Youth Mile winners.

    Medals will be awarded to top 3 in each Youth Mile age group. Additionally, the first place age group winners of the Youth Mile will also receive a Competitive Foot gift certificates.

    Ribbons will be awarded to all Youth Mile, Eastlake Chiropractic & Healthcare Center 5K Fitness Walk, and Junior Jog finishers.

    All finishers of the Women's 5K will receive a flower courtesy of Garland Flowers!

    Clydesdale and Athena runner weight groups are listed below in pounds. To be eligible to compete in these classes runners must weigh in at the Clydesdale/Athena station in the High School after 7:30 am and at least 15 minutes before the start of their event.

  • Prizes

    A $100 prize will be awarded to the top female and male runner in the Open Division. A $50 prize will be awarded to the top female and male runner in the Master’s Division (age 40 & up).

    $100 Additional Cash Prize for Setting a New Course Record!
    Set a new course record and win $100 (in addition to the prize money listed above).

    Course Map

    The 5K course is flat, fast and USATF-certified (#IL-06111-JW)
    The 1M course is flat, fast and USATF-certified (#IL-06112-JW)

    The course is entirely within the Oak Park, and it features a slightly downward sloping straight-away at the finish.

    Getting There

    Location

    The start and finish lines are at the Oak Park River Forest High School, 201 N. Scoville just north of Lake Street, Oak Park.

    There is a parking garage on the corner of Scoville and Lake with 300 parking spots. There is a nominal charge for parking in the garage. In addition there is on-street parking south of Lake Street. Please look for no parking signs and DO NOT park along the race course.

    Help us reduce our carbon footprint by carpooling, using public transportation, or riding your bicycle to the event.

    To determine the best route to travel via public transportation, either use the CTA’s trip planner at http://tripsweb.rtachicago.com/. Since we are less than a mile from the Metra Oak Park stop serving the Union Pacific West Line you may want to take the train. You can view a schedule at Metra's web site: http://metrarail.com.

    Bicycle parking will be available at the race site near the start/finish area and behind the school next to the stadium.
